Qualifications

Experience

At Nanyang Law, Mr Hilton is involved in formulating and advising on prosecution strategies before various International patent offices, primarily including critically analysing and responding to office actions and other contentious matters. In addition, he is involved in patentability evaluations of applications prior to their filing and manages the entire European patent portfolio of Nanyang Law as well as all new International filings. 

His primary areas of technical expertise include biotechnology, molecular biology, immunology and cell biology, but he has experience in handling patent applications in wide-ranging technological fields such as tobacco and foodstuffs, oil and gas, material and polymer science as well as the mechanical field. 

Prior to joining Nanyang Law, Mr. Hilton gained extensive experience of patent practices in various jurisdictions by working in major Singapore and Japanese Patent Law Firms, where he managed large patent portfolios filed throughout S.E Asia as well as the US, the UK, Europe and Japan. During this time he also gained experience in drafting patent specifications and providing opinions on the patentability and validity of patent applications in Japan and Singapore.

Mr Hilton has previously published a number of articles and news updates on the developments on the Intellectual Property Infrastructure of Singapore and other neighboring countries, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from the University of East Anglia (UEA), a Master of Science in Molecular Medicine from Cranfield University and a Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law.
