R Shakthi

Legal Trainee

Shakthi is a legal trainee at Nanyang Law training under the Litigation, Intellectual Property and Corporate departments.

Shakthi read law at Queen Mary, University of London with emphasis on corporate and intellectual property law. Additionally, he has achieved a distinction in International Foundation Program in Humanities and Social Sciences.

Before joining the firm, Shakthi was employed in a shipping company based in Singapore and has successfully negotiated freight rates and charter party terms with shipping companies on behalf of oil majors and trading houses such as Shell, Exxon, Lukoil, Vitol, Mercuria and Mitsui & Co. for global crude oil shipments. He was able to build favourable relationships with shipping companies and oil majors to accommodate the expectations of both parties in the negotiating process

Shakthi is also an avid Rugby player, representing Singapore under Singapore Rugby Union since 2009 in the National Squad in international friendlies, regional competitions and tours to Hong Kong and Thailand.   

Shakthi brings with him his drive and diligence to support the departments he works with successfully.
